Whilst I still try to retain a modicum of respect for my arteries. Melting before me, in a glint of sunshine, sits an absolute delight.
“Coo. make some peanut butter ice cream? Insists a chum. “Well, frankly no deary!” “Well you only eat some, not all dreary Deary.” she chides. “No, no not necessarily.” I quip by return.
It’s soft of texture, punctuated with nibbly-nutty pieces through a silky-soft peanut butter ice cream. Could prove popular with a slake of jam/jelly as our friends across the pond would say?

To pea(nut) or not to pea(nut) that was the question for the sizeable quantity of cream and fresh custard lurking in the refrigerator after a post apocalyptic BBQ birthday bash for the Tea Boy.

My go to … an ice cream dessert rather than just sit back and watch it grow a nice little, green, ‘whiffy’ fur coat!
It seems nut butters remain vogue so unless they thrust you into anaphylaxis / you don’t like nuts this is a goodie! Do I like peanuts? Well yes, guilty as charged, I am quite partial to the odd nut. (The Tea boy duly re-referenced)
There, lurking in the fridge, as if by magic, there were a couple of opened jars of peanut butter. Duly nabbed, now in combination the following (don’t judge me quite yet)

Roughly half a jar-ish of crunchy, slightly less of smooth. No’ fine parts of a gram‘ measurements here!
2 fresh quality custard
2 double (heavy) cream
1 condensed can of condensed milk,
The peanut butters and some vanilla (that’s a proper drop’a vanilla)! and a decent pinch of salt.
Whip the cream, then add the custard, condensed milk, vanilla, peanut butters and salt.
Cascade / flop the jollop into an appropriate, lidded container. Sprinkle some salted peanuts onto the top before closing for a more ‘crunchy’ finale?
Freeze.

Complicated? Nope. No ice cream maker but a working freezer, with some space in it, will be deliciously handy.
The quantity is by proportion and could easily be halved or doubled, nothing critical or set in stone.
The groovy ghoulish gravel:

Dark chocolate, salted peanuts, dried chilli flakes, and since it’s getting near to THAT time of the year some cinnamon and chocolate vermincelli. Just taste and proportion to suit your palate.

Mix and use as a ‘dipping gravel’, a collar on a cone, a halloween shocker or a ‘plating opportunity’.

Served here in chocolate cones with the chilli chocolate peanut crumb, which will be, hence forth, be known as groovy, ghoulish gravel.

Halloween? Bonfire night? Warming up with an ice cream? It’s crowd pleaser served with a groovy gravel?
Hope you’re all well and happy?

This is a new variety of what are called ‘Drumsticks’ in our ice cream treat freezers. Yummy! I love them
That sounds so good and the combination is inspiring. Thanks for sharing! Mollie
Looks delicious!
😮😮 This looks far from ghoulish! May I enquire as to the 2x custard and cream whether these are cups or containers as hard to judge quantity from pics? Thank you!
looks and sounds delicious!!!
Looks frightfully delicious 🙂
I frickin love ice cream
This looks so yummy!
(Unfortunately, our little one has a severe allergy to peanuts, so I won’t be trying it 😟)
I just mentioned this to my husband (AKA The Grill-Meister in my blog), and he made happy sounds, kind of like, “ohhhh ohhhh ooooh!”
Question: what is “custard” in the UK? I’d like to make this!
